Aside from offering minimal control over the temperature and heating period, this method provides little protection against accidental exposure to radioactive material.
Hotpot solves all three problems and increases control over the preparation process by enabling users to heat up radiopharmaceutical vials in a dry environment, at the exact temperature and for the exact time required. A layer of lead in the device also reduces the risk of accidental exposure. Moreover, the design increases the bonding rate of radionuclides and pharmaceuticals, which improves the imaging process and thus the quality of life of patients.
